How OBAY started
OBAY was founded with a clear-eyed view of a real problem: local Nigerian businesses had great products but no affordable, reliable way to get them to customers beyond their immediate vicinity.
Existing platforms either weren't present in many communities, charged fees that ate into thin margins, or were simply too complex for a small vendor to manage alongside running their business.
We set out to build something different — a platform designed from the ground up for Nigerian communities. Not a copy of a western delivery app, but something that understands the realities of operating in Nigeria: community trust, cash-out flexibility, and the value of simplicity.
